Exercises on Pronominal

In each sentence in the following exercises, identify pronominals. Among the identified pronominals, name pronominal determiners and adverbs. Note that not all sentences will have pronominals and that a sentence may contain multiple pronominals. Here is a sample question answered for you:

Q. They traveled to a remote village in the mountains for their vacation.

A. Pronominals: They, their

Pronominal determiner: their

1. When Martha finally reached the summit, she felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

2. They decided to adopt the stray dog that had been wandering in their neighborhood for months, giving it a new home and a loving family.

3. Their decision to move to the countryside, which had been a long-standing dream of theirs, finally came to fruition last summer.

4. If you ever need assistance with your project, don’t hesitate to ask for help from those who have more experience.

5. Can you show me how to use this new software effectively?

Pronominal determiner: their

3. Pronominals: Their, which, theirs

Pronominal determiner: Their

Note that their is a determiner, but theirs is not. It’s a pronoun here.

4. Pronominals: you, your, those, who

1. When will the meeting start, and who will be presenting first?

2. He built a shelter and lived therein for several months.
