Pronominal Determiner or Adjective

Pronominal is adjective form of word pronoun, meaning relating to pronoun. Most things containing pronoun can be described by adjective pronominal – and determiners are no exception as few of them are also used as pronouns.

What is pronominal determiner (or adjective)?

A pronoun functioning as a determiner is called pronominal determiner. Some grammar books call it pronominal adjective. In the examples below, pronominal determiners have been categorized under type of pronoun.

Possessive pronoun

My house is at the very end of the street.

First prize went to their project.

Demonstrative pronoun

This movie is my favorite.

That golf kit belongs to my brother.

Distributive pronoun

Every citizen deserves good education and healthcare.

The teacher had a 5-minute discussion with each student.

Indefinite pronoun

All gates were closed 15 minutes before the show began.

She brought some cheer to an otherwise gloomy situation.

Interrogative pronoun

Whose keys are these?

Which subject do you find the hardest?
